<b><i>When the BCCenter on East Avenue was demolished we lost our weekly "home" </i></b><br />

The oldest member helping out is 88 years young!<br />Here's a pic of us with our new T-shirts....we had fun!...we have some $$ for yarn!! </p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2901624184673040583.post-23604957354562274412006-11-16T19:19:00.000-05:002006-11-16T19:44:07.482-05:00To who and what items we donate...Do you know that the KnitWits have been handcrafting and donating needed items for over 10 years??<br />Do you know that we receive no grants or funding to buy new yarn??<br /><br />We rely on donated yarn or your gift to the KnitWits in order to enable us to buy new yarn for our volunteer crocheters and knitters.<br /><br />For the year 2005, we donated over 1200 items consisting of afghans, lapghans, shawls, hats,<br />scarves, mittens, baby sweaters/hats/booties/blankets to:<br /><br /><ul><li>Warren County Nursing homes and Adult Centers</li><li>Warren Hospital; Pocono Medical Center; Veterans</li><li>Head Start; First Start; Early Head Start; Haven of Hope for Kids</li><li>NORWESCAP; DARCC; Birth Haven</li><li>The Visiting Nurse; The Visiting Homemaker</li><li>St. Jude's and other church organizations; the Food Pantry</li><li>Homeless shelters; Hats for the Homeless</li><li>First Aid/Rescue/Ambulance squads; Police; Fire Departments</li><li>any other groups/charities/organizations requesting our service...</li></ul><p>For the year 2006 and through the end of September, we have already donated approximately 700 items. We are now approaching our busiest time of year. Total items donated will be updated on this blog at the end of the year.</p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2901624184673040583.post-30453516942053122142006-11-16T18:33:00.000-05:002006-11-16T18:47:46.984-05:00About Our Community Organization...The KnitWit members meet every Wednesday from 9am to 12noon at the Blairstown Community Center on East Avenue to knit and crochet many various items that are donated to several charities and organizations in Warren County and any surrounding communities requesting our service.<br /> One does not have to attend the meetings to belong as several members crochet or knit items exclusively at their homes.<br /> We can even boast having a man as a member; Ray is a really fast crocheter and doesn't read or need a pattern!<br /><br /> KnitWit members over the age of 55 are part of the <a href="http://www.norwescap.org/programdetails.asp?ID=15">RSVP</a> program (Retired Senior and Volunteer Program) of <a href="http://www.norwescap.org/">NORWESCAP</a>, based in Phillipsburg, NJ---but any age can join the KnitWits group as a member.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
